What we do

From a single garage to a fleet of twenty.

EV charger installation is one of Monte Power & Electric Power & Electric's most-requested residential services. We handle the full scope, from the load calculation and panel headroom check through the dedicated circuit, conduit run, breaker install, and final inspection.

Residential garages, multi-tenant apartment lots, commercial fleet sites, and dealership delivery bays. Whether the charger is a Tesla Wall Connector that came with a new car or a ChargePoint Home Flex you ordered online, the install is the same standard of work. Tax credit paperwork is ready to hand off.

  • 5+ EV charger brands installed every month.
  • 4-6 hr Typical Level 2 residential install window.
  • $2M General liability coverage on every job.

By brand & use case

The brand you have,

Decision point

Does the panel have headroom for a Level 2?

A Level 2 charger pulls 40 to 60 amps continuous. Most older San Jose homes don't have that kind of headroom on a 100A or 125A panel. Check these signs at the estimate. If the panel can't handle it, the upgrade and the charger get quoted together.

Read more on panel upgrades
  • 100A or 125A main on a home with electric AC, dryer, and oven
  • Sub-50A available after summing existing breakers
  • Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel that needs replacement anyway
  • Panel inside the garage with no easy run path to the charger location
  • Permit denied previously for an EV charger application
  • 200A main usually fine for a single charger up to 48A

Quick answers

EV charger
questions.

Five of the most-asked. More on the dedicated contact page or by phone.

  • Which brands do you install?
All major brands: Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Wallbox, JuiceBox, Grizzl-E, and any standalone unit. We work with whatever you've already bought or can recommend a unit if you haven't decided.
  • Do I need a panel upgrade?
Sometimes. A Level 2 charger pulls 40 to 60 amps. We check your panel headroom at the estimate. If the panel can't handle it, we'll quote both the charger install and the panel upgrade together.
  • How long does it take?
Most residential Level 2 installs are completed in four to six hours. Multi-charger commercial fleet installs vary by site and are quote-by-quote.
  • What level of charger do I need?
Level 2 (240V) is the standard for home installs. Level 3 DC fast chargers are rarely needed at home and require commercial-grade service. We can talk through which fits your driving.
  • Are there rebates?
PG&E and BAAQMD periodically offer rebates for residential and commercial installs. We track the current programs and apply them at quote time. Federal tax credits also apply to many installs.

Ready when you are

not next month.
